Family Time Friday
What’s a fun, family time outing that you & your family have shared recently?
Most Fridays we are all exhausted and crawling to get to our respective spaces in the house where we can relax and unwind by ourselves, alone, solo time.
G & I are pretty consistent with not letting any of the 4 Sibs be off to themselves for hours and days at a time. We push them to spend time with each other almost daily and interact with us as much as possible. With 4 of them it can be tough to balance 1x1 time but we try. It’s most important to me that they interact with each other daily. They don’t have to be best friends but at least have a solid foundation as siblings. They all get annoyed with my daily requests that they “do something together” but ends up not being so bad and I know it will serve them all well in the long run. With two under 10 and two teens, it can be tough to find activities and events that everyone will enjoy together. When it happens though, it’s awesome.
Yesterday was awesome. As a practicing attorney with a growing law practice, networking and staying connected to other legal professionals is important for my husband. I love events and outings so I am always down to get out and attend stuff. After finally getting hubs to step away from his computer, we took the 4 Sibs to the Wake County Bar Association Family Picnic. The Littles were excited to go, the teens were protesting and G wanted to work a bit longer but the Friday night outing ended up being a pleasant surprise.
Kudos to the organizers of the event. It was a fantastic experience for our entire family. They did a really great job making everyone feel welcome and including fun activities like face painting, balloon animals, Kona Ice, squismallows, candy, train & carousel rides, delicious food, all included in the event. We all had lots of laughs, delicious food, fun and a really great time. Dinner & Family Activity=Done. ✅
Sometimes, an event or activity can surprise you and end up being a wonderful, core memory building time for you and your family. Time is fleeting. It’s important to get out and experience as much as we can. Together.
